Chamblee on Tiger’s Short Game at Isleworth

By Wayne | Videos: Swing Analysis

I’ve tried to avoid doing as many of this type of video (although I know everybody on the website enjoys them) because we are trying primarily to focus on making people better golfers, not on dwelling on ridiculous commentary from the TV guys. But I get so annoyed listening to Brandel Chamblee that when it’s clear that he is purposely overreacting and making unbelievable statements (such as “I doubt that there is a single amateur player at this club as bad around the greens as Tiger was this week”, or “this is the worst short game display I’ve ever seen…

Tiger Woods Swing Comparison: New vs. Old vs. Older

By Wayne | Videos: Swing Analysis

This is an exceptionally long video so I’m not going to summarize the whole thing except to say that I think you will find it interesting. As you know I’ve been compiling Tiger’s swings and writing (and making videos) about them for as long as he has been playing. He is easily the most compelling player alive, not only because of the greatness of his record but because he has done more with his swing than anyone else I can think of. He has been #1 in the world with at least 4 different swings, and while every player makes…

Tiger Woods at the Hero Challenge: Old or New?

By Wayne | Videos: Swing Analysis

Let’s get this straight right off: Tiger Woods has a great golf swing. Now, does it do everything that I prefer? No, but then again I’m not teaching him, so no big deal there. However, from what I’ve seen of Chris Como (specifically the video he did with PhD Sasho Mackenzie) they are working in the right direction. I see a taller set up, maybe a slightly weaker grip (although nothing like with Haney), pretty close to the Haney backswing with the iron from down the line with better right loading than I’ve seen in a while from face on,…

From the Vault: Various Swings from Wayne D’s Tape Collection

By Wayne | Videos: Swing Analysis

Knowing that he is a swing junkie like the rest of you I originally sent this to Kevin Streelman to give him something to do over the Thanksgiving holidays. After I thought about it I figured all you guys are paying to see interesting stuff, so why not just post it on the site? Most of the swings are from tournaments I was either playing in or working with someone, and the range and course shots go from the PGA at Riviera in 1995 to the Booz Allen Classic (formerly known as the Kemper Open) at TPC Avenel in Maryland.…

What I Would Do with Tiger’s Swing

By Wayne | Videos: Swing Analysis

This is, of course, hypothetical, but since I’ve been asked a number of times I figured I’d do a short video on how I would approach teaching Tiger. The things I suggest here are combination of my own swing preferences with things I think have worked for Tiger in the past. I focus here on 5 items; first, setting up in a more athletic stance, taller at address with the weight distributed more toward the balls of the feet. Second, the hands and arms should have more space away from the body, and the takeaway should be straighter back and…

Swing Analysis: Tiger Woods Through the Years Part 2 of 2 (2003-2014)

By Wayne | Videos: Swing Analysis

Tiger Week continues with Part Two of “Tiger Woods Through the Years”. We pick up in 2003 where Tiger pretty much didn’t have a coach. He’d gotten away from Butch but had not yet hired Hank. Interestingly enough the swings of this short period are my favorites in a career full of great swings. I continue on with swings from the Haney period and finish up with the Foley years.   [wlvar_basicmembershipjoin]

Swing Analysis: Tiger Woods Through the Years Part 1 of 2 (1994-2002)

By Wayne | Videos: Swing Analysis

This week is a “Tiger Week” of sorts and all the videos will focus on Tiger Woods. For the last video this week on Friday I’ll answer a question I’ve been asked a number of times; “What I Would Do with Tiger’s Swing”. We’re starting the week off with part one of a two part series were I analyze Tiger’s swing from 1994 – 2014. The first video of the two covers Tiger’s swing from his college days through the end of 2002, pretty much what could be referred to as his “Harmon Years”.   [wlvar_basicmembershipjoin]

Swing Analysis: Charl Schwartzel’s Driver

By Wayne | Videos: Swing Analysis

I got some great shots of Charl at the Barclay’s this year when he, Luke Donald, and Sergio joined Kevin Streelman (I work with Kevin) for a practice round. It’s rare to be out on the course with a camera and tripod but as I like to take shots of Kevin that I can use the V1 to analyze I happened to be prepared to get some nice footage. The down the line view was from the par 5 3rd hole (I think) and the face on was on the drivable 5th. The one on the 3rd was one of…
