Online Lesson: Zachary Turek: Game Deteriorating, Needs an Opinion

By Wayne | Videos , Videos: Online Students

Online Lesson: Zachary Turek: Game Deteriorating, Needs an Opinion I gave Zach some lessons back in 2014-2017 that helped him play better and decide to stay in the golf business where he works now.  When Zach texted that he felt like he needed some help I had him send these swings. I approached these swings as though they had no history, even though I have swings saved from 2017, which, by the way, were a lot better in general, which meant that I simply had to get him back to what I knew he could do. One suggestion has to…

Online Lesson: Adam Bazalgette- Right Arm Extensor Action and Outward Hand Path

By Wayne | Videos , Videos: Online Students

Adam is a friend from way back in the early 1980’s when I was playing the Space Coast mini-tour and Adam was working at his first job in the golf business at Errol Estates in Apopka, Florida where I would go to practice. Adam’s career would take him to Long Island for a time, then to work in Florida with David Leadbetter and on to Naples where he has been a successful teacher at a private club as well as helping found the Scratch Golf Academy, which has over 500,000 subscribers. Adam has an elevated level of swing knowledge…

Lesson of the Week: Jay Goldbaum- Looking for a less In-to-Out Approach

By Wayne | Videos , Videos: Online Students

Jay is a low handicap golfer (you can tell that his swing is already at a high level) but struggles with consistency of contact, curving the ball too much, and the ability to control the ball flight in the wind. It is difficult to see an overly inside approach at full speed when the player does a good job of keeping his hips deep as Jay does, but in slow motion we can see that at P6 his clubhead is well behind his hands, which will force the hands to rotate the face more at impact to square…

Ludvig Aberg Swing Analysis: Shaft Plane Approach is the Secret Sauce

By Wayne | Videos , Videos: Online Students

Ludvig Aberg has proven that he can hit the ball as well as anyone, as evidenced by a 61-61 finish at the RSM Tour event with tournament leading strokes gained driving and approach. His swing is mostly conventional other than an extra strong grip (think Duval or Zach Johnson), and his body type seems like the new normal for Tour players, 6 foot 3 and 190 no body fat pounds.  If there is one thing that I believe he could improve on (that’s scary) it would be his upper body backing away from the ball in transition and his…

Online Lesson: Ken Thayer- Wonderful Technique but Could Benefit from Less Right Load and Left Wrist Flexion

By Wayne | Videos , Videos: Online Students

“I am in the business and recently opened up an indoor golf place.  I have been making a ton of changes to my swing and have periods of great ball striking and then periods when fighting it especially with the driver. Last year I was hitting a little cut, I knew where it was going but felt I left lots of distance on the table. This year changed to more of a draw but have issues with solid contact and consistency. I am curious what you see in my swing. In these videos my wrist is in pain, so…

Online Lesson: Scott Saal- Working on Loading Right and Using Glutes from P6 to P8

By Wayne | Videos , Videos: Online Students

“Wayne, I’m excited to get your feedback. I am 34 and played golf at William & Mary. Jeremy Wells told me a lot about you a while back, and I have watched most of your videos on YouTube a couple of times. I run an investment business and have a young family, so I don’t have time for competition. Nevertheless, I play about 30 rounds per year, and I try to practice for an hour a week at least 2-3 weeks per month. I carry a +3 handicap, albeit at a short, easy golf course, the Cavalier in…

Playing for Money: Austin Kendziorski-Harnessing Unlimited Power for Better Proximity

By Wayne | Videos , Videos: Online Students

Make no mistake, Austin has a great golf swing that produces elite level speed (185-190 ball speed with the driver). To achieve more success (Austin has 1st stage of Q-School coming up after making it through pre-qualifying) I believe that Austin needs to tighten up his iron swing to get more control of his trajectory and distances, especially with the mid and short irons. In the video you will see side by side of his swings after two days of work, mostly focusing on the takeaway and getting comfortable with feeling like he is making a ¾ length backswing.…

Wayne D Swing Analysis: Back to Hogan (Again)

By Wayne | Videos , Videos: Online Students

It’s been a while since I’ve analyzed my own swing for the website, but in the past month my back has felt better (it’s been 2 ½ years since my 2nd 2-level fusion) and I’ve been able to work on it in earnest for the first time in years.  I’ve settled into a daily morning workout of 45 minutes that incorporates stretching, isometrics, and body weight exercises that doesn’t blow me up, and I get to the gym a few times a week for lower body lifting on stable machines and 30 minutes of fast paced walking…

Online Lesson: Sim Allan-Working on Right Loading and Hip Depth

By Wayne | Videos , Videos: Online Students

“Thanks for taking the time. Have been feeling really “cutty” with the irons -> hitting a weak cut that starts right and lands well short and right.” Sim has taken several online lessons over the past few years and has improved quite a bit.  In this video we find him with a combination of moving his upper body forward in the downswing after keeping his head still in the backswing and allowing his left leg and knee to bend inward and downward too much, slowing his hip rotation, and causing a loss of depth. I’d like to see…

Lucas Glover Swing Analysis: Ben Hogan Would Love This Swing

By Wayne | Videos , Videos: Online Students

Lucas Glover has always been an excellent ball striker. The former U.S. Open champion has struggled with his putting for a decade, but in the last month has discovered not only a fix, but a method that now puts him at the top of the putting stats, which, along with his long game, has led him to two straight wins on the PGA Tour and has moved him from 146th to 3rd in the Fed Ex Cup standings. If he doesn’t run out of gas, I can see him winning the whole thing, although that would seem like a…
