First day on the Blue (the US Open course played from 6950 yards) I hit 7 fairways and 10 greens, felt quite jumpy and didn’t really make anything (33 putts). The second day on the Gold Course from about 6850 (another really good track, cut more through the trees) I hit 7 fairways again but only 7 greens and had 28 putts.

It’s been 15 months since my last competitive round, but I get to break that streak today at Congressional as I tee it up in the first round of the Middle Atlantic PGA Section Championship. I’m really looking forward to playing, and I will report in after round two.

This is an email conversation I recently had with Bob Kumpula, Conner Kumpula’s father. Conner is the Oregon Amateur champion who has been working with me online for about a year. His swing, as you will see in the upcoming online lesson, is simply awesome, one of the best I’ve seen. It was a great day of practice out at the awesome TPC Sawgrass course where they play the “5th Major”, the Player’s Championship. Kevin has good memories here as he tied for 2nd two years ago (Tiger won by 2) and David Lingmerth 3-putted 18 to make Kevin a bunch more cash.
