Changes to WayneDefrancesco.com! (scroll down for new posts)

By Wayne | blog

Changes are coming to WayneDefrancesco.com!(scroll down for new posts as this announcement will show as the first post for a week or so.) We have been hard at work making changes to the technology platform we use to operate the website. This is an upgrade that will support our plans to introduce improvements and features to our members in the months ahead. One thing in particular that you should notice immediately when we switch over is that the new site should be faster and more responsive. While we are trying to keep everything as familiar to the existing site as…

Online Students: Robert Curtayne

By Wayne | Videos: Online Students

Wayne: fyi: I’m from Australia, have had a few lessons but have never got the impact sorted out, have been working on the posture and takeaway as per your website for a few weeks and have noticed a huge change, thanks and look forward to your comments.   As you will see in the video Robert has lots of good things going on in his swing. I know Tour players who would like to have the club pointed at the top the way Robert does. Robert’s issues start with a lack of stability in the legs in the backswing, which…

Swing Analysis: Charley Hoffman

By Wayne | Videos: Swing Analysis

If you’ve been following the website for a while you probably know that I really like Charley Hoffman’s swing, even though as you will see in these shots of his driver I took at the recent Valspar Championship in Tampa that his right arm does not really move the way I prefer. That said, there is a wonderful simplicity to his body movement that could be a model for anyone, and I certainly use his swing to show people who move around too much just how nice it looks to wind up and clear the hips and shoulders the way…

Online Students: Conner Kumpula Part 4

By Wayne | Videos: Online Students

There is not much to say about this one except you won’t see a better swing on the PGA Tour. Connor pretty much exemplifies what I prefer in a swing, with power and grace. I don’t see too many swings that I would not make any significant suggestions to improve, but this is one of them. At some point I will meet Connor and spend time with him, but all I would hope to do is to share my experience as a player. Much of the golfing experience when you are good and expect to do well each time you…

An Interesting Conversation

By Wayne | blog

This is an email conversation I recently had with Bob Kumpula, Conner Kumpula’s father. Conner is the Oregon Amateur champion who has been working with me online for about a year. His swing, as you will see in the upcoming online lesson, is simply awesome, one of the best I’ve seen. When the swing gets that good the topic of shot selection and course management becomes quite important (much less so when you can’t hit the ball where you are aiming). Here Bob (and Connor) asks a very pertinent question: Wayne, Thanks for the recent lesson. Conner wanted to ask…

Must See Video! Right Arm Action Revisited

By Wayne | Videos: Swing Analysis

One of the most watched videos on this website is one I did a few years ago on the movement of the right arm during the swing. I probably get more questions about the right arm than on any subject, and I have given a lot of thought to the subject since I filmed the first one. Here I’m in my basement going over my latest thoughts on how the right arm should function during the swing from address to the approach to impact. I think you will find some new ideas that will help, especially if you are one…

Tuesday at the Player’s Championship

By Wayne | blog

It was a great day of practice out at the awesome TPC Sawgrass course where they play the “5th Major”, the Player’s Championship. Kevin has good memories here as he tied for 2nd two years ago (Tiger won by 2) and David Lingmerth 3-putted 18 to make Kevin a bunch more cash. Anyway, we started off warming up nicely, then went to the back of the range and I mostly watched as Kevin worked on shots around the green with Gabriel Hjertstedt, a two time Tour winner who was renowned for his stellar short game. Gabe is on the Streelman…

2015 Champions Cup (Champions: Derek Meinhart and Kyle Maxwell)

By Wayne | blog

Congratulations to Derek Mienhart and his teammate on their recent win! Look for the link at the bottom of the page to read the article and results in GlobalGolfPost. We asked Derek for a few words and he was gracious enough to supply the below testimonial… I was introduced to Wayne’s techniques and website by a good friend John Given. He started sending me videos of Wayne’s work. One of my struggles has been crossing the line and Wayne has helped me understand why this happens. When I first took the on-line lesson I understood but wasn’t perfectly clear what…

Online Students: Barry Mahlberg

By Wayne | Videos: Online Students

Wayne, I will send you a couple of different videos. Thanks much for taking a look! Basic feelings that I get when I am not swinging well: a. feels as if my right elbow does not get deep enough in front of my body in downswing. Results are inconsistent bottom and shots toward the toe. b. I have tried “backing in the ball” to allow room, but don’t feel very athletic and lose power. c. Sometimes I feel as if I need to get forward with my weight to get a forward bottom, but then it turns into a slide.…
