TP&C: Tony Romo Part 5

By Wayne | Tour Players and Celebrities

I’m back down in Texas at Trinity Forest with Tony Romo, and we are making nice progress with Tony’s swing as well as his ability to manage himself on the course. I’m focusing on educating Tony about what his swing tendencies are and how he can address issues and improve over time by understanding what will make his swing more efficient and repeatabl

Online Students: John Lamendola 12

By J | Videos: Online Students

John has been a consistent online lesson taker (along with 3 face -to -face lessons) and has shown remarkable improvement in his technique and in the results he has achieved on the golf course. He has the good fortune to have a basement studio with all sorts of useful technology, which makes processing and practicing the suggestions I make over the internet much easier.

Lesson of the Week: Drew Wine

By Wayne | Videos: Lesson of the Week

Drew is a perfect example of a very good player who has never been happy with his swing mechanics and the way he strikes the ball. Drew is what you might call a “hands” player, who due to excellent rhythm and tempo and a repeatable action can keep around a 3 handicap, although he always feels that under pressure or on a particularly difficult course he is at a disadvantage because of his inability to control his ball flight.

Online Students: Chuck Zellner Part 8

By Wayne | Videos: Online Students

Chuck, as always, provides a good summary of what he has been doing and how he is processing the information and suggestions I have given him. Chuck has the tendency to overdo things, which is better than not changing at all, and many times we must ratchet back on the things we talk about. In this video, I give Chuck 4 or 5 bits of advice to continue to hone in on the swing that he wants and will work on the course.

Swing Analysis: Rory McIlroy at the 2017 British Open

By Wayne | Videos: Swing Analysis

Having watched Rory with interest since he emerged as a player to be reckoned with I believe that he has continued to improve his technique and is certainly capable, barring injuries, to go on a run reminiscent of his major championship years. The main item I see is greater hip depth in the backswing, which lessens his tendency to lean forward approaching the top while pulling his right arm behind him.

Online Students: Kacie Mulligan, PGA

By Wayne | Videos: Online Students

Kacie works for my longtime friend and student Peter Procops at his club up in New York. As you will see in the video she is very strong and athletic, and with some improved mechanics could really be a player. Pete brought her to one of his lessons down in Boca this January (2017) and since then Kacie has really made some nice improvements, but since we started with some extreme issues there is still quite a bit of work to be done.

The Final Word

By Wayne | Articles: In Golf as in Life

When my editor asked me to write an article that would be the “last of the season”, I began to wonder: “What if it were the last one, period?” What if this was the end and I had to say what I wanted to say now, because there would be no more chances? Well, luckily I’ll be around and kicking for a while, so that won’t be the case, but it does offer up an interesting approach, almost like a last will and testament. So instead of telling a story, or making one particular point, I thought I might dispense some random thoughts that I find important, or that have been important to me in what has been my career in golf up to this point.
