Swing Analysis: Crossing the Line

Here I take two of my younger students who both cross the line at the top of the swing and show how I try to get them more on plane at the top. Both Joey and Zach are strong hitters who generate a lot of club speed, but both tend to lift their arms at the top and cross the line quite a bit. After working with both Dick and Gary last week, Dick face to face at Woodmont and Gary online, both had nice finishes in the Champions Tour event in Canada, Gary finishing 8th and winning over $50,000 and Dick finishing 11th and winning $38,000. Chris is a good example of great instincts impeded by poor mechanics. Chris’ backswing is fraught with problems, but his forward swing recovers nicely and finds an approach worthy of a top notch player. It’s always nice to start a tournament round with a couple of birdies, like I did at the Arcola Country Club course in New Jersey for the U.S. Senior Open qualifier.
