This is one of the stranger swings I’ve analyzed because the backswing is almost perfect. You would think that the rest of it would be cake; however, this case proves that nothing is automatic when it comes to hitting a golf ball. People ask me all the time “if I do this will it make that automatic”? I always answer “no”, nothing is guaranteed if you do the thing before it correctly”.

I know I have a lot more to work on but, I will say my iron ballstriking has been incredible. Everything up to my 2 iron is very accurate and long. My scores in the trackman test center have never been so high. My path and face have never been so close to zero (they used to both be very +) and my VSP is so much lower.

If you want to talk about “natural” swings you have to start with Jimmy Bruen. I compare the swing to Eamon Darcy and Jim Furyk, but the more I think about it I see it as a less conventional Fred Couples, where the club floats to the top any old way then is led down by the body with a side arm throwing motion right out of Hogan.

Parker has made tremendous progress with his swing, as shown in the side by side of the older iron swing with the new and improved one. He is still at odds with his left arm lifting as he moves into transition, and here I show him how he has to move if he continues to pinch his right arm in front of him in the backswing.

Bryce has a violent transition, pulling down hard with his hands and arms to make up for a lack of lateral movement that would pull the left arm against the chest in transition. Bryce is an excellent player and a smart guy you would think he could just effect the change immediately. Alas, as is almost always the case, it takes a while to figure out how to get a major pattern change to happen when it’s in the middle of the swing.

Yes, that’s right all you golfing pundits: Tiger’s head is dropping as much as it ever has. The only difference is that he has evened out the amount between the backswing and the downswing. So please, don’t say that he is not dipping or dropping or squatting or lowering as much now, because he is. The proof is in the swing.
