Online Students: Steve Rogers

By Wayne | Videos: Online Students

: Wayne, I am having difficulty hitting my irons solid. Mostly fat contact, some thin, always off the heel… Looking forward to hearing from you. Steve Rogers You might find Steve’s report regarding his poor ball striking as almost unbelievable considering the technically sound nature of his swing as far as conventional considerations go, but when we look more closely at Steve’s pivot action we can see the importance of what is the foundation of this website, pivot compression. As you will see, Steve’s swing looks great to the eye because it functions on excellent plane lines. There is nothing…

TP&C: Tom Kite

By Wayne | Tour Players and Celebrities

I thought one of my buddies was pulling a prank on me when I got the text that Tom Kite had called over to my old club to try and contact me. They gave him the number to Lakewood and sure enough he called here and told me that he had been trying some of my ideas he had seen on the website and wanted me to view a few swings that he took last week at the U.S. Senior Open (he finished 14th) and send back some comments and recommendations. I did so (you will be watching the video…

Online Students: Matthew Latham Part 2

By Wayne | Videos: Online Students

Wayne D, I just uploaded a couple of swings this evening to my YouTube channel and I feel like the downswing transition was finally a little better. I finally got the feeling of really trying to throw out my hands towards the ball to flatten the plane, which as you said is such a counter-intuitive move and still feels alien, but the ball is starting to behave better. It’s great fun watching the improvement….and everyone else on the website. Will be watching with intent the progress of Lenny Mattiace and Kevin Streelman!   In this video we see that Matthew…

Lesson of the Week: Jonathan Wolff

By Wayne | Videos: Lesson of the Week

I did a good job of filming the progression of what I worked on with Jonathan so I think you will find this lesson interesting. The neat thing is how he responded to the analysis and incorporated my ideas almost immediately. Jonathan has an athletic, aggressive move but the fairly sizable lower body slide in the backswing was derailing any opportunity for him to get his upper and lower body to synch up, eventually causing him to back his head away from the ball and pull backwards at impact. As you will see as his swing progresses through the lesson…

TP&C: Ben Silverman Part 6

By Wayne | Tour Players and Celebrities

Ben has been doing nicely on the Canadian Tour with a top 20 and a top 10 in his first two events, but he missed the cut last week and sent me a few of his swings. As you will see the swing is looking great going back, but still needs work in transition and in the release. I would like to see Ben keep the cup in his wrist a bit longer in transition and get his hands working more out toward the ball so that the right arm can move more in front of his chest and his…

Swing Analysis: Aaron Baddeley

By Wayne | Videos: Swing Analysis

Aaron has changed his swing dramatically since his Stack and Tilt days, going from a backswing that moved well inward and across his chest to one much more out in front of him. He is known much more for his short game and putting than for his ball striking, which has been statistically poor in relation to the rest of the Tour. A few weeks ago at the Travelers he almost put it together for a win, but a wayward drive deprived him of a chance to birdie the 18th and a tie with Kevin Streelman, who stole the title…
