Here we have Tiger’s swing at this year’s Chevron where he birdied the last two holes to finally pull off a win. The most amazing thing to watch is the huge difference from last year to this year.

Just to show everyone I’m not picking on the TV announcers, here I commend Peter Kostis on an insightful biz hub swing analysis of a Tiger Woods drive at Pebble Beach.

So Phil flies in Butch, and Butch suggests that Phil keep the flex in his left knee, and suddenly Phil is a world beater. Nonsense.
Continue readingWell, it was a fun two days of golf at a fabulous course, but my partner and I did not finish in the money. We shot 71-71 and beat a few teams, while the winners were at 65-65. It was an impressive field of players, with Senior Tour players Mike Goodes, Lonnie Nielsen and Gary Hallberg, and top flight club pros such as Darrell Kestner, Craig Thomas, Mark Brown, Frank Bensel, Mark Mielke and Danny Balin among others. Assessing my own play, I would have to say that the event was a success on a couple of levels. First,…

It is always a test to play in a heavy wind. Today it was blowing 15-25 mph, and that means that no shot can be taken for granted. Every shot has to be struck well in order to end up well, from the drive with water left and a hard left to right crosswind, to 130 yard shot into the wind that would usually be a nice pitching wedge but now turns into a knockdown 8 iron, if not a punch 7. Continue readingIt’s the first time in quite a while that I have felt good about a tournament. I haven’t played well for more than 3 years, and I finally feel like I can turn the corner and become a good player again. Why is this? A lot of it is my body. My back guy is doing some different things that seem to be working, and I am able to incorporate more of the stuff I am teaching in my own swing. So, part of it is my ability to execute, and part of it is what I am trying to…

I was reading GolfWeek and I ran across a blurb about Gary Woodland, who is now working with Butch Harmon. Woodland stated that he is struggling with the things they are working on, especially the idea of “swinging down the line” as opposed to swinging left, which Woodland states that he has “always done”. I find that highly interesting in a couple of ways: first, I was under the impression that Butch really doesn’t try to change much in the players he works with. Most of them are great anyway and don’t need much help. I’ve viewed his work as…
