I really like this lesson because it takes a swing that appears to be almost flawless and shows that not only do the eyes misinform the observer when things are too fast to distinguish but that changes for the better can occur, and evidence of the change can be seen, when the swing is looked at in detail in slow motion.

Bryce has a violent transition, pulling down hard with his hands and arms to make up for a lack of lateral movement that would pull the left arm against the chest in transition. Bryce is an excellent player and a smart guy you would think he could just effect the change immediately. Alas, as is almost always the case, it takes a while to figure out how to get a major pattern change to happen when it’s in the middle of the swing.

I rarely am in awe of the way a student strikes the ball. I have played with great players and now teach a great ball striker in Kevin Streelman, and I can say that at times I am in awe of how well he can hit it. But at 11 years old young Weston really had my mouth hanging open today. It was downwind on the range at Lakewood but Weston was hitting 7 irons 160 straight at the flag, then hit my SLDR 3 Hybrid with a stiff shaft 205 yards, and was flying his new full length Callaway…

Bob plays his golf up in West Palm Beach and drove down for a face to face lesson to see if he could get some help with his overall ball striking. He was not making very good contact with his irons, and as I watched him warm up and hit a few there were both fat ones and very thin ones, while the ones he hit more solidly had some good quality to them.

Steve is an accomplished senior amateur player from Kentucky who contacted me last year for an online lesson. The first thing you will notice about Steve’s action is that it looks great. This is almost always the case when the rhythm is good and the club points nicely on plane at the top.
