TP&C: Tony Romo Part 3

By Wayne | Tour Players and Celebrities

You may be aware that Tony is a stellar athlete who up to now has played golf strictly in his spare time and as a hobby. Now that he has retired as the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys for the less injurious position of NFL analyst he is ready and able to put more work into his golf game and would like to become a serious amateur competitor. I met Tony in January of 2013 at the Isleworth Invitational when I was invited to join his group for a practice round on the back 9 after my 3 playing partners had retired for the day. Upon introducing myself Tony remarked that he had watched the video I had done commenting on Peter Kostis’ television comparison of Tony’s swing with that of Tom Brady.

TP&C: Brad Faxon Part 4

By Wayne | Tour Players and Celebrities

I’ve known Brad for quite some time and have worked with him on and off for years, although we have never lasted more than a month or two at any one time. Brad is a studious swing guy, and has seen just about every teacher you could name. I asked him one time how many, and he said “I counted 65, and those were guys (and women) that I paid”. With his new job as lead announcer for Fox Brad has tried to keep up with all the new “teachers du jour” and it is fun to get his take on what is going on in the business as I don’t pay much attention to it.

TP&C: Kevin Streelman Part 3

By Wayne | Tour Players and Celebrities

This one’s pretty simple: I just wanted to show you how good Kevin’s swing is looking. I compare to the first swing I saw of him on TV in 2010, and we have gotten back to the good stuff in that swing and improved it. The most noticeable difference is in the posture, which used to be much more flexed and bent over. The thing I really like about his swing now is the leg movement, which is much deeper and has way less tendency to “hump” up toward the ball in the downswing. But the beautiful thing is the…

TP&C: Brad Faxon Part 3

By Wayne | Tour Players and Celebrities

I went down to Jupiter to spend a couple days with Brad at Old Palm and we got some nice work in. I have always told Brad that given his problems with the approach being high and sometimes stuck he should strive to get the club on plane at the top (less across the line) so that he can have the shaft flatten early in transition and then steepen the rest of the way down, which will give him the chance to get the right arm straighter as he approaches impact and his hands as a result passing by closer…

TP&C: Brian Urlacher

By Wayne | Tour Players and Celebrities

At 6’4 and 260 lbs. of solid muscle (no discernible body fat) Brian, future Hall of Fame linebacker for the Chicago Bears, is an imposing figure, especially in shorts and a tight golf shirt (seems like everybody looks big in a football uniform, at least on TV). The amazing thing about Brian’s golf game is that his short game is absolutely amazing. He gets it up and down like a Tour player, and that’s any shot from anywhere around the green and inside of 100 yards. I wasn’t surprised when Kevin (Streelman) told me that Brian has built substantial short…

TP&C: Nick Price

By Wayne | Tour Players and Celebrities

This was a real treat for me, as you can imagine. Nick is a Hall of Famer, former #1 in the world, but has struggled recently with his driver and his results on the Champions Tour have not been up to his standards. I was in Florida at Old Palm with Brad Faxon and Brad, a good friend of Nick’s, mentioned that Nick had been hitting his driver all over the place and had taken a video of Nick’s swing. Brad showed it to me, and as you will see in this video I could tell right away what the…
