Mac O’Grady and the Magic Move of the Greats

By Wayne | Tour Players and Celebrities , Videos , Videos: Swing Analysis

Recently a bunch of Mac swings were posted on YouTube, and I encourage everyone to check out his action to see how it changed over time.  It was always a great swing, and his ball-striking abilities are legendary.  He is also known for his knowledge of swing mechanics and just about any other subject regarding the game, but his eccentricities have kept him from rising above the cult status that he currently possesses (although I’m sure he could care less).  In this video I take a Mac swing from down the line that demonstrates what I consider to be the…

Tiger Woods 2000: Why I Teach What I Teach

By Wayne | Tour Players and Celebrities , Videos , Videos: Swing Analysis

Sometimes I download swings onto my computer and forget about them, which is what happened with these swings of Tiger taken at Butch Harmon’s teaching center in Dubai in 2000.  What’s rare about them is the stable camera and the correct camera angles, which are hard to come by unless you are one of the few who have worked with Tiger over the years.  These are especially valuable as they come from Tiger at the top of his game and considering his amazing career that is saying something.  In this video, I look at the Tiger’s swing in detail and…

Lydia Ko Swing Analysis: Added Strength and Getting Back on Plane Leads to Big Victory

By Wayne | Tour Players and Celebrities , Videos , Videos: Swing Analysis

Lydia Ko was a prodigy to say the least.  She was #1 in the world at age 17 and had 2 majors under her belt along with 15 tour wins before she was 20.  A few years later she found herself in golf never-never land, going through swing coaches and caddies in search of the missing magic.  She only won once in 90 events before breaking through with a 2nd in the latest women’s major and followed that up with a 7-shot win.  Much credit goes to her new instructor Sean Foley, who essentially got her back to what she…

Matt Jones Swing Analysis: Classic Positions with Quiet Lower Body

By Wayne | Tour Players and Celebrities , Videos , Videos: Swing Analysis

At age 40 Matt Jones will admit that he has had an up and down PGA Tour career marked by streaks of good play (2013 to 2015) and not so good play (2016-2018), but for the most part he is a solid grinder who has played in an average of 24 PGA Tour events a year since 2008, finishing in the top 125 in half those years and amassing over $15 million in earnings.  Coming off a missed cut and a T-55 in his last 2 events Jones was probably approaching the Honda Classic with a “see what happens” attitude,…

Jordan Spieth Pitching: Video for Tony Romo

By Wayne | PGA Professionals , Tour Players and Celebrities , Videos: Swing Analysis

Back in January of 2018 I played in the Isleworth Invitational, partnering with Tony Romo. Tony had been playing quite a bit with Jordan Spieth, and we had a great time practicing on the fabulous short game area at the club with me showing Tony some things and Tony sharing with me some of Spieth’s secrets to his amazing pitching game. I had recorded Spieth off a couple of televised events, focusing on his short game, one of which was the Hero World Challenge, also at Isleworth, where Spieth blitzed the field while shooting an incredible 26 under par (Isleworth…

First Face to Face Lesson with Kevin Streelman- June 2014

By Wayne | Tour Players and Celebrities

Kevin first contacted me in December of 2013 when he saw a video analysis I did of his swing from 2010. He had been working on some of the things I mentioned and was also interested in my love of Ben Hogan and his swing mechanics. It didn’t hurt that I was friendly with Kevin’s caddy at the time, A.J. Montecino, who gave me a thumbs up when Kevin asked if he knew me. Kevin sent me swings again in February, and after missing 3 straight cuts and then playing poorly while missing another cut at the U.S. Open at…

Playing for Money: My First Online Lesson with Kevin Streelman in 2014

By Wayne | Tour Players and Celebrities

I was quite surprised back in December of 2013 when I got an email from PGA Tour Professional Kevin Streelman. He was in China playing at the time and had watched a video I had done on his swing back in 2010 when he had a 3rd place finish at the Barclay’s. I loved his swing and commented that it was one of my favorites and that I suspected he would be quite successful. He asked his caddy at the time, A.J. Montecino, if he had ever heard of me. Luckily for me A.J.’s answer was “yes, I know Wayne…

TP&C: NFL Great Ozzie Newsome- Changing Backswing Patterns and Adding Forward Swing Work

By Wayne | Tour Players and Celebrities

Having semi-retired as GM of the Baltimore Ravens Ozzie now has a lot more time to devote to his golf, a game at which he struggles, quite frustrating for a world class Hall of Fame athlete. Ozzie has definite physical limitations with his replaced left hip and highly developed upper trunk and shoulder muscles that somewhat restrict his mobility, but his size and strength allow him to make up for lack of swing length with better technique. We have worked extensively on his grip, but he still tends to want to re-grip the club with his right hand in transition…

TP&C: Willy Wilcox’s Back 9 with the Lead at the Web.Com Abaco Championship

By Wayne | Tour Players and Celebrities

This video simply shows a) how hard it is to win on any tour and b) how a hard course under trying conditions will punish shots that are just millimeters off. With a couple of good bounces Willy could easily have won this week’s Web.Com tournament. However, he has two fourth place finishes to start off the year, giving him a great head start on his quest to win enough money to get back on the PGA Tour.

TP&C: Willy Wilcox in the Hunt at the First Web.Com Event

By Wayne | Tour Players and Celebrities

Willy is playing well and gaining confidence, and here I look at some of his swings from the Web event in the Bahamas this week as well as some swings from his visit to Boca Rio the week before. It also helps that he has developed greater confidence in his putting with his new arm-lock putter, which I take a look at in a video soon.
