USGA, R&A proposed rule changes for 2019, Plus Distance Report

By Wayne | blog

If you haven’t seen these they’ve been out for a few days. I wanted to share the links and offer them up for discussion in the forum. The first link is to a pdf with proposed rule changes for 2019. I can’t imagine no changes or additions will made so it will be interesting to see what makes the cut, what does not, or if they all do. The second links to a pdf of the distance report.

Wayne D Students Gillespie, Eure Get Through 1st Stage Web.Com Qualifying [video]

By Wayne | blog

Both players responded to the pressure and fired nice final rounds to advance to second stage, where the pressure only increases. Making it to the final stage is a key moment in any professional’s career, and missing guarantees another year of chasing qualifiers and mini-tour events. There really is no getting around the importance of getting through second stage, and there is no pretending that it is just another tournament.

Final Report on the 2017 Senior PNC

By Wayne | blog

I learned long ago that no one wants to listen to a golfer recap a round shot by shot. I’ve been known to stop people (not my students) who start in with the commentary and say, “hold on, should I grab a cart?” However, since this is my website and part of the reason you subscribe is to see what’s on my mind when it comes to just about anything regarding the game I will give you a detailed account of my second two rounds (you can read about the 1st round in my previous blog).

That would be a nice victory for me considering my play in recent years. Even if it doesn’t turn out I feel that I am…

Tiger Woods: Still a Chance?

By Wayne | blog

As you know Tiger Woods just underwent his 4th back surgery in the past 2 years (he has now caught up to me in the race no one wants to win), and by now most of the pundits are thinking that he is done and will never compete on a high level again, certainly not anywhere near the level he demonstrated from the early nineties to 2013. I happen to disagree with that assessment, and I will tell you why.

Happy Thanksgiving from Wayne D.

By Wayne | blog

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank all the participants and especially the subscribers to WayneD.com. You don’t know it, but you a big part of what has encouraged me to continue to strive to understand the swing and to come up with better ways to get you to improve. You are also instrumental in keeping me playing and practicing, which makes sense because I have always believed that to truly know what you are talking about when it comes to utilizing a golf swing as opposed to theorizing about one you must not only care about it but you must do it and keep score.
