It’s been 15 months since my last competitive round, but I get to break that streak today at Congressional as I tee it up in the first round of the Middle Atlantic PGA Section Championship. I’m really looking forward to playing, and I will report in after round two.

Conner was frustrated and considering walking away from the game. In desperation he and his father sent in some swings and after some online instruction he became the Oregon Amateur Champion instead. This year Conner has qualified for the US Amateur. We’ve never met in person and have only worked via the internet and phone.

Whenever I want inspiration to make my swing better I turn to the Hogan videos I’ve watched a million times. It’s amazing to me that I seem to get something new from them even after studying them for so long, but now that I feel good enough to look at my swing and actually try to practice enough to change it I can see more clearly how he was doing things and how I am not doing those things.
