TP&C: Brad Faxon Part 2

By Wayne | Tour Players and Celebrities

I’ve known Fax for a long time and have worked with him 3 or 4 times, but only one at a time with lots of time in between. I have always thought that if he could uncross the club at the top and simplify his release action, with his wonderful fluidity, rhythm, and ability to get the ball in the hole that he would be one of the top senior golfers anywhere. Up to now he has chosen to work on different things, or at least different ways to get to a better swing, but this year he reached the…

Online Students: Bradley Hamner

By Wayne | Videos: Online Students

“Wayne, new to your site within the past few days but I am impressed. Impressed enough to excitedly send you some of my videos. I am a frustrated scratch golfer with a love for the game and a passion for learning and improving my swing and game.   I played in college and still play high level am tournaments as much as possible (I own my own business so we have that in common) and I have 2 small children. I find time to practice as much as I can but don’t get to play as much, I save that…

Online Students: Colby Carter

By Wayne | Videos: Online Students

Hi Wayne, “First, I’ve really enjoyed your videos, particularly on lowering in the downswing — great stuff. As you’ll see, I’ve been fighting a slight over-the-top move, along with being shut and across the line at the top and sliding forward in the downswing. The last few years, I’ve been working mostly on properly starting the downswing with the lower body, but haven’t been able to consistently keep the club on plane. I greatly appreciate your help”. Colby   From Colby’s email you can tell that he has been focusing most of his energy on his downswing. In the video…

TP&C: Tom Kite Part 5- Face to Face at Liberty National (with bonus clip)

By Wayne | Tour Players and Celebrities

I can’t tell you how cool it was to meet Tom after working with him on line for a few months. I was visiting my good friend Mark Diamond at Liberty National on my way to Ridgewood and the Barclays to work with Streelman when Tom asked if he could meet me there on Monday morning. Tom had been in Endicott for the Champions Tour event and drove down Sunday night. We had a great 4 hours together in which we worked on increasing the “catch” in Tom’s swing and trying to get the feel for that move to help…

TP&C: The Putting Stroke of Brad Faxon

By Wayne | Tour Players and Celebrities

About 4 years ago I had the pleasure of spending the day working with Brad Faxon on his golf swing at the Old Oaks Golf Club in Long Island, NY. Before we spent time on the range we went out to play the course which was to be the site of Brad’s attempt to qualify for the U.S. Open that year. Armed with my trusty camera and tripod I filmed Brad hitting different shots, and although we were not going to work on his putting (for obvious reasons) I had enough presence of mind to film his putting stroke front…

Playing for Money: Jason Gandy Part 2

By Wayne | Videos: Playing For Money

Jason’s second lesson finds him still struggling with the high approach, and Jason reports in that his divots are steep and left and the contact glancing. He describes the hit as a “swipe”, and is frustrated that while improving his hand path he still has not been able to shallow the approach to impact. I think you will find this lesson interesting as I talk about maintaining width in the downswing, and the effect that narrowing too soon in transition has on the eventual routing of the arms and hands into impact. I put Jason side by side with Adam…
