An Interesting Conversation

By Wayne | blog

This is an email conversation I recently had with Bob Kumpula, Conner Kumpula’s father. Conner is the Oregon Amateur champion who has been working with me online for about a year. His swing, as you will see in the upcoming online lesson, is simply awesome, one of the best I’ve seen. When the swing gets that good the topic of shot selection and course management becomes quite important (much less so when you can’t hit the ball where you are aiming). Here Bob (and Connor) asks a very pertinent question: Wayne, Thanks for the recent lesson. Conner wanted to ask…

Tuesday at the Player’s Championship

By Wayne | blog

Kevin has good memories here as he tied for 2nd two years ago (Tiger won by 2) and David Lingmerth 3-putted 18 to make Kevin a bunch more cash. Live Observations: the 2014 PGA Championship

By Wayne | blog

I gave my few lessons at the club and headed home on this Sunday in August to watch the final round of the PGA Championship. I was at Valhalla on Monday and Tuesday with Kevin Streelman, who missed the cut by 2 shooting 69-76. Kevin won the week after we started working together, but has not continued that success with any top finishes. We are still working on the same stuff, and there are some things that are proving to be fairly stubborn. Anyway, I’m home now and there was a delay in the starting times due to rain so…

Not Just another Day in the Life

By Wayne | blog

Sunday June 22 was a truly crazy day. I had been in Myrtle Beach since I drove down from DC Thursday afternoon, and had played a nice practice round on Friday at the Grande Dunes course. Saturday morning was the Sponsor Pro-Am, and I teed it up at 8:15 feeling OK, but a little dicey after the warm-up. The last 3 months had been off and on with what I thought were hip problems, as the pain that I felt in the mornings was located in the right hip and glute area, and at one point it got bad enough…
