Online Students: Tom Richards Parts 1 and 2

Tom is a good player from Charlotte, NC who had been trying to fix certain things in his swing for some time, namely a faulty takeaway and a steeping of the shaft in transition. The cool thing here is that Tom digested the online lesson, worked on it for a few days, and then filmed another swing that I was able to compare to his first batch. I think you’ll find the difference significant to say the least.

Here we have a perfect example of the need for technique to go along with athletic ability when it comes to hitting a golf ball. John excelled at many sports as a kid and still remains in top condition while working as a television producer. He has come to golf late and has played some but has found it to be more difficult than he ever imagined, so much so that he has not been able to enjoy playing due to extremely inconsistent and generally poor ball striking.

This video, which actually comprises two lessons given three weeks apart, is a perfect example of the need for video analysis and the difficulty that even the most diligent students have in incorporating changes into their swings. Derrick is a smart, capable player who understands what he is trying to do and practices to that end. Alas, as is often the case, the player’s feel does not equal what is actually happening.
