Wayne:
fyi: I’m from Australia, have had a few lessons but have never got the impact sorted out, have been working on the posture and takeaway as per your website for a few weeks and have noticed a huge change, thanks and look forward to your comments.
As you will see in the video Robert has lots of good things going on in his swing. I know Tour players who would like to have the club pointed at the top the way Robert does. Robert’s issues start with a lack of stability in the legs in the backswing, which move too much to the right and push his weight to the middle of his right foot while the left hip comes well away from its starting position. This, combined with a lack of wrist cock, set up a sequence where his upper and lower trunks start forward at the same time. The usual result of such a move is just what you see here- the hands coming in very wide (producing little shaft lean at impact) and the clubhead approaching from slightly out to in. Robert needs better sequence so he can move his upper right arm more aggressively inward and forward after the left arm is pulled by the body, and he also needs to educate his hands as to what to do if and when they find themselves over the ball when the club is still parallel to the ground, which is why I prescribe punch shots and pre-set punch shots as drills to practice.
