From the Vault: the 3rd Round of the 2001 National Club Pro Championship

By Wayne | Videos: From The Vault

One of my good friends and students Sean LeDonne took old VHS tape of my 2001 victory at the CPC and digitized it for me, so I thought I would post it. I had opened with 65-69 and had a 4-shot lead heading into the 3rd round, and this is the Golf Channel coverage of that round minus the commercials. I’d have to say that winning that tournament was the highlight of my career, so you can imagine that I don’t get tired of watching it. The round demonstrates the kind of player I was, always the grinder.

From the Vault: Swing Compilation: Floyd, Trevino and Watson

By Wayne | Videos: From The Vault

Here is another in my series of golf’s greatest major champions. Raymond Floyd won 4 majors between 1969 and 1986, along with 22 PGA Tour events and 15 Champions Tour events (and 4 Senior majors). Lee Trevino came out of nowhere to make his first Tour win a major, winning the 1968 U.S. Open. He won 5 more majors for a total of 6 between 68’ and 1984, with the 1984 victory being his last PGA Tour win. Trevino won 29 PGA Tour events and 29 Champions Tour events, adding 4 senior majors. Tom Watson won 8 majors between 1977 and 1983 along with 39 PGA Tour events between 1974 and 1998, and 14 Champions Tour events (including 6 senior majors).

From The Vault: Swing Compilation: Hogan, Nelson and Snead- the Second Great American Triumvirate

By Wayne | Videos: From The Vault

Here are three of my favorite swings. The 2nd great American triumvirate, these guys dominated the Tour for the most part from 1934 to 1954. Nelson was the first to break out with 3 majors in the 30’s, while Hogan didn’t win a tournament at all until 1939 and won his first major in 1946. Snead spread his majors out over a 17-year period starting in 1937, while Nelson won his 5 majors in the 8 years from 1937 to 1945 and Hogan between 1946 and 1953.

Swing Compilation: Hagen, Jones and Sarazen- the First Great American Triumvirate

By Wayne | Videos: From The Vault

I know that all the members of the website enjoy watching the swings of the great players from the past as well as the present, so I decided to put together videos of the swings of the best players of different eras starting with Walter Hagen, who won his first major championship in 1914 and his last in 1929. Included here with Hagen are Bobby Jones and Gene Sarazen, who together were known as the first great American triumvirate. Jones won all his majors (7 professional and 6 amateur, which in these years were considered majors) between 1923 and 1930.…
