Wayne D Practice Session: January 2018- Working on Using the Ground and Creating Better Impact

By Wayne | Videos: Swing Analysis

I thought this was a great practice session as I was (finally) successful in adding hip flexion and loading into the ground in both the backswing and transition, then addressed my recent (last 8 years?) tendency to throw release the club through impact with my irons. By the time I achieved a drive/hold release and got the club to move from P7 to P8 on plane I found myself pushing up off the ground and straightening my left leg in a much timelier fashion.

That’s really interesting to watch, thanks Wayne. I have a few questions. First, do you have any competitive opportunities coming up where you can take your improved swing out for a test? Or, do you generally not play in any tournaments until you return to Maryland? Also, do you spend a commensurate amount of time working on your short game and putting? Finally, I’m curious about your mental approach with regard to transferring the punch shot feeling to the full swing. I have a really hard time with that. I will hit lots of beautiful punch shots, but when I go back to the full swing it’s just right back to the throw.
