We have focused on this in the past, but I always say that the lesson (any lesson) starts with the swing the student brings, and in this case it was obvious what we had to work on.

In this case it is the early release, which is the number on reason people do not strike the ball solidly and take a divot after impact.

Derrick is a smart, capable player who understands what he is trying to do and practices to that end. Alas, as is often the case, the player’s feel does not equal what is actually happening.
