Playing for Money: My First Online Lesson with Kevin Streelman in 2014

I was quite surprised back in December of 2013 when I got an email from PGA Tour Professional Kevin Streelman. He was in China playing at the time and had watched a video I had done on his swing back in 2010 when he had a 3rd place finish at the Barclay’s. I loved his swing and commented that it was one of my favorites and that I suspected he would be quite successful. He asked his caddy at the time, A.J. Montecino, if he had ever heard of me. Luckily for me A.J.’s answer was “yes, I know Wayne D. He’s awesome”. It so happened that when I taught at Donald Trump’s first course, Trump International in West Palm Beach, A.J. was working there as well. We became friendly and I helped A.J. with his swing a bit, thus his thumbs up on my ability to teach. The one thing I did see in Kevin’s swing that I thought he might be able to improve was his tendency to drive his right leg toward the ball, while I have always preferred the right hip to stay deep in transition and drive more parallel to the target line while the pelvis rotates. He played well at the Tournament of Champions in January but had middling results after that. He sent me more swings in February and when I asked if he would like me to do a video analysis for him, he said sure, which is what you are seeing here. I wouldn’t meet Kevin face to face until June, which is another story altogether.
