Online Students: Chris Fox

By Wayne | Videos: Online Students

[Premium] Here is another example of a very good player who is held back by right arm motion that complicates the release action to the point where it can’t be controlled consistently. Chris’s action is not as obvious as most that we see here on the website, but that just goes to show you how important it is to be able to slow the swing down and watch the sequence of movement in transition and in the impact area.

Tom Watson: An Interview

By Wayne | Videos: As Seen On TV and Extras

I was lucky enough to stumble upon this interview while randomly clicking channels one day, and the words that Watson used and the message he delivered were so close to the way that I have tried to approach golf and have tried to impress upon my students that I thought that you, the serious golfers who are on this website to improve your play, would enjoy and benefit from them. Golf is an individual sport. There is a certain loneliness that plays a role in any individual sport, but none so much as golf, where you don’t have to hit…

Online Students: Tommy Economou Parts 3 and 4

By Wayne | Videos: Online Students

Here are a couple of lessons given to Rice University player Tommy Economou. Tommy originally sent in his swing in February of last year, and he experienced some nice improvement and some good college tournament results. It’s now a year later and Tommy is set to head back to school for his spring semester. As you will see, especially if you take the time to go back and look at Tommy’s first couple of lessons, old habits die hard, and when you think they are gone they tend to come back, perhaps in a different form and different degrees, but…

Chamblee on Tiger’s Short Game at Isleworth

By Wayne | Videos: Swing Analysis

I’ve tried to avoid doing as many of this type of video (although I know everybody on the website enjoys them) because we are trying primarily to focus on making people better golfers, not on dwelling on ridiculous commentary from the TV guys. But I get so annoyed listening to Brandel Chamblee that when it’s clear that he is purposely overreacting and making unbelievable statements (such as “I doubt that there is a single amateur player at this club as bad around the greens as Tiger was this week”, or “this is the worst short game display I’ve ever seen…

Online Students: Taylor BeDell

By Wayne | Videos: Online Students

: Dear Wayne:   I have been following you for a few years. My daughter is 16 years old and aspires to receive a college scholarship. She is currently a sophomore in high school. She has been playing golf since she was eight.   She is a competitive golfer. She is currently ranked 175 on junior golf scoreboard.   We have been working on fundamentals that you teach on your website for the last couple years. Every winter we work hard to get in shape for the new season. For many years she had an “over-the-top” move that we have…

Online Students: Tyler Neff Part 2

By Wayne | Videos: Online Students

This video is a good example of the difficulty in changing a right arm motion pattern. If you watch Tyler’s first video lesson we focused on getting the upper right arm to move inward toward the chest to start the forward swing, which would take the end of the grip and the hands more out toward the ball. Tyler is a strong guy with an excellent move but when his right arm drops behind him in transition it gets stuck to the side of his body and the hands just don’t get forward enough to give the ball a good…
