Lexi Thompson Busted: Victim or Perpetrator?

By Wayne | Videos: As Seen On TV and Extras

I can’t for the life of me understand how anyone who watched the video of Lexi Thompson marking her ball and replacing it in the 3rd round of last week’s ladies’ major championship could think that she did not cheat. Arguing that the ruling never should have happened because viewers shouldn’t be allowed to call in rules infractions, or that there should be a time limit to calling an infraction (there is, and it’s until the last shot is holed and the trophy is awarded) is like the Trump administration claiming the focus should be on the leaks and not on the Russian interference in the election. People, please, watch the video! She picks the ball up and blatantly improves her lie! She doesn’t clean the ball, she doesn’t line it up differently, it never gets more than two inches off the ground and she never takes her eye off the small area around the ball. She searches for a place to put the ball that she likes better than the one it’s sitting in, and she moves it there. She deserved to be disqualified.

Rickie Fowler Putting: An Analysis

By Wayne | Videos: Swing Analysis

There are as many putting styles as there are players, and you will see just about everything you can imagine when you watch the Tour on television. I have always preferred a narrow stance for whatever reason, and my stroke has trended to faster over the years. Way back when I had a very slow stroke that measured somewhere in the 60’s on the metronome, but I found that I was prone to missing short ones as the stroke felt too long and wobbly.

Online Students: John Lamendola Part 9

By Wayne | Videos: Online Students

John has been pretty relentless in his online lesson taking, and just look at how his swing has evolved. Not only has his swing gotten mechanically better, he has been hitting it better on the course and shooting better scores. I think that anyone could improve or at least be encouraged that improvement was possible simply by watching the process as we attack John’s chronic flaws and try to simplify his technique.

Online Students: Kory Koehn

By Wayne | Videos: Online Students

This video is a great example of how posture and stance affect the entire swing. In watching Kory’s swing at regular speed, I saw some nice motion with good rhythm, but I also noticed a general lack of structure from face on and not much hip depth from down the line. After a closer look, I saw that Kory’s posture was quite erect, and that his right foot was extremely flared out.

An Interesting Dialogue with my Friend Jeffrey Mann Part 2 of 2

By Wayne | Videos: Swing Analysis

And here is Part 2: As you may know I consider Jeffrey Mann to be one of the most knowledgeable people I’ve met when it comes to golf swing mechanics. I have met with Jeffrey at his home twice and once on the driving range before flying out of Salt Lake City where he lives, and I admire his fascination (obsession?) with the workings of the golf swing. Jeffrey is not a good golfer, but he is an ultra-smart guy who has applied his experience as a doctor who cut up cadavers (he knows his muscles, bones, and connective tissues) and as a research analyst for some high -level science publications to figuring out the best way to strike a golf ball.

Swing Analysis: Rickie Fowler from 2010 to 2017

By Wayne | Videos: Swing Analysis

In this video, I look at Rickie Fowler’s swing and the changes he has made from his first full year on Tour (2010) to this year. He is having an excellent 2017, having won the Honda along with 2 other top 10’s in his first 5 events, after having what was for him an off year in 2016. Fowler played nicely from 2010 to 2012, but slipped a bit in 2013 and sought out the help of Butch Harmon in the off season.

Playing for Money: Nick Sherwood Part 2

By Wayne | Videos: Playing For Money

Wayne, “I just wanted to give a quick update. Over the past two weeks in Palm Desert I have made and seen lots of progress. I am hitting lots of golf shots I’ve never seen. Specifically talking about speed and distance. I am encouraged about the road we are heading down. That was Nick commenting on his feelings about our first online lesson, and this video is the second.
