: Wayne,
I am having difficulty hitting my irons solid. Mostly fat contact, some thin, always off the heel…
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Steve Rogers

You might find Steve’s report regarding his poor ball striking as almost unbelievable considering the technically sound nature of his swing as far as conventional considerations go, but when we look more closely at Steve’s pivot action we can see the importance of what is the foundation of this website, pivot compression. As you will see, Steve’s swing looks great to the eye because it functions on excellent plane lines. There is nothing wrong with the way the arms, hands and club move up and back during the swing. The sequence is good, the club trails nicely, and everything seems to be in order. But when watching the body movement we see lifting in the takeaway, no real use of the ground during transition, and significant backing away with the upper body and head in the forward swing, all of which negatively affect impact. I think that if Steve applies the principles that the website promotes he can improve quickly and dramatically. I guess we will have to wait for Steve to work on it and report back, but I am confident there will be good results to come.
