Online Students: John Lamendola Part 5

John has made great strides with his swing and it is showing in his scores. The one item that has proven the most stubborn is the dropping back of the hands and right arm in transition. His backswing is now wider and more on plane, but after dealing with a motion pattern where his pivot essentially caused the hands to want to deepen at the top of the swing, they have a mind of their own and have grooved this unwanted movement. The good news is that the drop is not built in anymore, and my suggestion here is to continue to widen the backswing to get the upper right arm more away from the body (without disconnecting the left arm from the chest) and most importantly to “catch” or “interrupt” the backswing with the lower body initiating the forward movement while the hands are still moving away from the head (at least they feel like they are). I think John is close to getting this to look the way he wants it to.
