Hi Wayne, my name is Liam Hermansson from Sweden. I go to college in Tennessee and just finished my sophomore year. My dad has followed you for many years and is a big fan. He thought we should try this opportunity to get advice from another pair of eyes.
I play good at times but have struggled for the most part in the last year. Face control is my biggest problem right now, just very inconsistent, and unpredictable. I hit a lot of good shots, but the bad ones are really bad.
Liam’s swing is so good that I don’t even bother drawing the lines in this video. Instead, I focus on a more general, shape related aspect of his swing, his position at the top. Even if he weren’t complaining about erratic face control, I still would have mentioned trying to compact the swing by keeping the right arm more down and in front of him at the top, and here I side by side him with a dozen or so of the top players of the day, highlighting their right arm position at the top. I think it’s worth a try, and talented players like Liam can usually accomplish what they are trying to change in fairly short order. If it feels too foreign or doesn’t produce any results, he can just discard it.
