Online Lesson: Austin Kendziorski Showing Winning Form

By Wayne | Videos: Online Students

Hey Wayne! I hope all is well! It has been awhile since I have sent you anything, mainly because we were in season, as well as I have been working on a few things over the last couple weeks! Had a good junior fall season, we played 5 tournaments in total. I finished top 10 in 4 of the 5 and won my first collegiate event at the strongest event we play all year which is our home event at Erin Hills! Also tied the course record at Rich Harvest Farms, where the National Champions were last year, with a 64. The game has gotten a lot better all around. I drove it well over the fall and got faster and straighter with my driver. I put on about 25lbs of muscle and have gotten my ball speed consistently into the mid-high 180’s. So thank you for helping me get to where I am now! In terms of the swing, I have been working at it to try and make my misses and trajectory control a lot more consistent. Here are two swings I was able to get today with the nice weather, I apologize for the darkness. I want you to tell me what you think and any suggestions you have. I am looking to come down by you over winter break, just have to figure out the dates. Thanks again Wayne! Really like where I am headed!

Austin has done a marvelous job with his swing, as you will see when I side by side his swing now with the first one he sent me over two years ago. His amount of lowering may be an issue at some point, but I like the general idea and it is comparable to Tiger in 2008 when he was still the best in world. Also, you can’t argue with 185 mph ball speed, which would make him one of the longest hitters on the Tour, and with a fairly short, compact move no less. The only thing I would recommend from these two iron swings would be to move his ball position more forward in order to increase his overall launch angle with the irons, as hitting the ball high and far is hard to do, while lowering ball flight is an easier task when you produce the type of drive/hold release that Austin utilizes. One of the keys to success at the higher levels is the ability to shoot extremely low numbers, and Austin’s 64 at Erin Hills and 63 at Rich Harvest Farms indicate he has no fear of hopping in the sub and going down. This kid is destined for good things.
