There is nothing about this swing that you wouldn’t want to copy, even if you don’t have Max’s 32-year-old, 6’2”, 180 lb. body (my guess is that he has put on 20 more pounds of muscle since the PGA Tour did his profile). Everything about this is quality, from the grip to the stance and posture, and then to the effortless looking swing that produces average drives of 306 yards. A few things that are a bit different from what I might teach are the locked looking arms at address and the lack of rightward head movement in the backswing, although he of course makes up for both by having great trunk movement and extension in the backswing and by working his upper body hard to the right as he approaches impact with the driver. I love the lateral hip drive and the quiet feet, both reminiscent of my favorite player, Ben Hogan. Also, his retention of right knee flex in the backswing, rotating the forearms between P2 and P4 to put the club on plane, and his outward hand path in transition while creating hip depth are all things I include with most lessons.
