Lindsay and her husband Peter came from Chicago to spend a couple of days with me, and the progress was excellent. As you will see in the video Lindsay is very athletic (she is a horse person) and with her size (tall) and ability to move and create speed getting her to hit it far better is a matter of technique. The most glaring fault present here is her sequence. She moves her lower body off the ball a bit, which is a recoverable mistake for an experienced player, but without a brace and the intention to start forward with the lower body leading she leans her upper body well left in transition and to keep the ball from heading dead right every time she has to release the club early to square it. The throwing action robs her of power and trajectory control, and opens her up to erratic contact, especially fat shots. Also, since her upper body is not delayed at all by proper sequencing, she tends to rotate her shoulders early along with her hips and thus pushes the shaft out in front of her, leading to an out to in path which has to be compensated for with an open clubface. We worked on all this stuff and stuck mostly to half swing punch shots, and by the time she left her path was much less from the outside and she struck some punch shots with forward shaft lean, a feeling she had never experienced. She still needs a lot of work on her sequencing, but all in all we made some significant gains in understanding and technique
