One of the things that stood out to my eye in the recent PGA Championship at the Atlanta Athletic Club was the wide disparity of swing types among the top contenders. Here I take 7 players who populated the leader board on Saturday and use the video to comment and compare their swings. From the compact, on plane moves of Jason Dufner, Scott Verplank and Steve Stricker to the rangy, highly unconventional swings of Brendan Steele and Jim Furyk, with John Senden and eventual winner Keegan Bradley somewhere in between, the day’s round on TV serves as a microcosm of golf at its highest level, as you see technique and talent in varying combinations, all of which have brought these players to the point of contending in a major.
