This is a pretty cool lesson, as Grant is all raw potential. This would be the kind of hands on lesson that, if they had a chance to watch, would really help a young professional with designs to be a good teacher someday, because it’s the start of taking something totally untamed and untrained and giving it control and structure without taking away the athleticism.

As we will see here Parker has done a great job incorporating the first two lessons. We also see how difficult it is to get the hands to move toward the ball in transition after having them drop vertically forever.

This, like most of the swings we see in the online lessons, is nicely athletic and is one that most people would watch and say something like “you have a great swing – why do you have to keep tinkering with it?” Of course, these are people with little knowledge of what it takes to be a consistently good ball striker. They can see that the swing has nice rhythm and nice looking lines, but the details are not apparent when you simply watch at full speed.

It is obvious that Parker is working hard and understands what he is trying to do. Parker is already a 2 handicap and I think that when he begins to make significant progress on the items in this lesson he will bump up to the next level.

Everyone who is not as good as they would like to be has swing issues, and it is always a good idea to get a clear understanding of how your present swing works before you start to take it apart. I like to give a general overview in the online lessons, and I wouldn’t expect anyone with multiple problems to institute all the changes I suggest immediately, although I believe it is always better to work in combinations and in motion than to work on one thing at a time and focus on more static positions.
