Online Students: Byron Miles Part 4

By Wayne | Videos: Online Students

This is a great example of a successful series of online lessons. Byron’s swing has progressed remarkably, and it is easy to see from the side by side views of the new and the old that he has been able to incorporate just about everything I have suggested. Certainly it should be encouraging for everyone who has taken an online lesson or is contemplating doing so that great improvement can be made even without face to face, hands on training.

Online Students: Byron Miles Part 3

By Wayne | Videos: Online Students

If you’ve watched Byron’s swing progress from the first online lesson he took I think you will be impressed with the progress he has made. From setting up leaning drastically to the left and then staying on the left side in the backswing he has centered himself nicely and is even right loading a bit. For a tall lanky guy Byron has a quick and compact looking swing, part of which is due to his tendency to keep his right arm close to his side in the backswing.

Online Students: Nathan Maust Part 2

By Wayne | Videos: Online Students

As I watched this video over again it occurred to me that without slowing Nathan’s swing down it would be close to impossible to come up with an intelligent diagnosis, or at least one based on reality and not guesswork, in order to improve his pivot and hand movement. Nathan is obviously tremendously powerful, and with a few technique changes he could really have something going.

Online Students: Erik Ludtke Part 3

By Wayne | Videos: Online Students

As you will see in this video Erik has absolutely made some real progress with his swing. I make a few suggestions here, most notably with a continuation of the work on the posture and the transition movement with the pivot. As usual all this is interrelated as Erik’s tendency to bend his neck down at address leads him to raise it up a bit as he gets to the top, where he starts down by shifting his knees under himself and backing up when viewed from down the line and leaning his upper body over his lower at the change of direction from face on. With better use of the ground Erik can improve his sequence and continue to improve the overall package.

Online Students: Angus Bradford

By Wayne | Videos: Online Students

It is always nice to have an opportunity to help a talented young player, and you most definitely see one here in Angus. The things I point out are pretty common for juniors like Angus who have not filled out physically and thus have trouble with managing the amount and type of pivot movement they utilize in the backswing. Angus does a nice job getting the club back up to left arm parallel, but to my eye he overturns the right arm and shoulder and puts it in a position where he can’t quite get the upper right arm back in front of him in the impact area.

Online Students: Wayne Miles

By Wayne | Videos: Online Students

Wayne is a 24 handicap golfer from Australia, and I have learned over many years of teaching that the higher the handicap the more I have to make sure that the player has the correct concepts regarding how the swing works in general. Wayne has the obvious backswing issues as far as technique goes, but he does a marvelous job of sequencing his swing and produces the potential for a lot of power in the downswing.

Online Students: Josh Rindfleish

By Wayne | Videos: Online Students

Josh has a nice, fluid move that would appear to the naked eye to have little to fix. However, upon closer analysis with slow motion video it becomes apparent that Josh suffers from the same pattern tendencies we see all the time with good players who aren’t hitting the ball as well as they need to in order to compete at a high level…
