Online Students: Antti Kauhanen

By Wayne | Videos: Online Students

Antti exhibits the classic symptoms of using one swing for both balls on the ground and balls up on a tee (tee shots, not par-3’s). In most cases the player either hits the driver well and struggles with iron, hybrid and fairway wood contact, or can’t control the driver while compression the other shots nicely. When you see Antti’s iron swing, you will probably agree with me when I say it is excellent. He is on plane and achieves a very nice forward leaning impact with plenty of sustain past the ball. If you watch his driver swing you will find that at regular speed it looks fine, but given his account of how bad he is hitting it we know to look for some reasons why which may not be so obvious.

Online Students: John Lamendola 12

By J | Videos: Online Students

John has been a consistent online lesson taker (along with 3 face -to -face lessons) and has shown remarkable improvement in his technique and in the results he has achieved on the golf course. He has the good fortune to have a basement studio with all sorts of useful technology, which makes processing and practicing the suggestions I make over the internet much easier.

Online Students: Chuck Zellner Part 8

By Wayne | Videos: Online Students

Chuck, as always, provides a good summary of what he has been doing and how he is processing the information and suggestions I have given him. Chuck has the tendency to overdo things, which is better than not changing at all, and many times we must ratchet back on the things we talk about. In this video, I give Chuck 4 or 5 bits of advice to continue to hone in on the swing that he wants and will work on the course.

Online Students: Kacie Mulligan, PGA

By Wayne | Videos: Online Students

Kacie works for my longtime friend and student Peter Procops at his club up in New York. As you will see in the video she is very strong and athletic, and with some improved mechanics could really be a player. Pete brought her to one of his lessons down in Boca this January (2017) and since then Kacie has really made some nice improvements, but since we started with some extreme issues there is still quite a bit of work to be done.

Online Students: George Lyall

By Wayne | Videos: Online Students

“I am hitting pulls, fades & slices. Would like to get rid of the flip at impact and have lower hands at impact. Not sure if this is possible? Regards George” – George is very squatted and his balance is well back into his heels, which makes it quite hard to maintain posture and create space for the right arm to get in front of the chest, which is an important aspect in getting the hands more forward at impact as well as closer to the body.

Online Students: John Lamendola Part 11 Hitting Draws and Fades

By Wayne | Videos: Online Students

This video gives us a nice primer on hitting draws and fades and what the swings should look like when the camera angle stays the same for both shots. Also as you watch the video you’ll see that I disagree with John’s guesses as to why the hybrid impact looks a bit flippy. His head stays in its box through the impact area nicely, and he is certainly plenty rotary as his left knee disappears from view just as his left arm gets to parallel to the ground in the forward swing. What I do note here is that…

Online Students: Mark Armstrong

By Wayne | Videos: Online Students

This is a good example of how important the set-up is in how the golf swing functions, and how posture and balance can determine how the body moves once the swing gets started. Mark has exaggerated knee flex for sure, but most importantly he starts with his weight well back into his heels. As soon as I see a set-up like this I expect the general movement of the pivot to be forward toward the ball, and keeping the hips in the box almost an impossibility.
