Lesson of the Week: Rick B

By Wayne | Videos: Lesson of the Week

Rick is a long-time friend and my business partner at waynedefrancesco.com and wdglc.com. He runs a software company that produces ease of access programs for major online gaming companies. He is also an avid golfer, and I have been helping him with his swing off and on since we met, although never for any extended period of time.

Lesson of the Week: Zach Verses

By Wayne | Videos: Lesson of the Week

Zach has been a student of mine off and on for 5 years, although it has been quite intermittent and “off” more than on. In the video you can see that Zach has the ability to change and improve his mechanics, and has always been blessed with the knack for achieving a stellar line of compression through impact. However, he is also prone to reverting back to his old habits when he gets away from consistent lessons and plays more than practicing.

Lesson of the Week: Chris Wagner

By Wayne | Videos: Lesson of the Week

Chris is a first time lesson who has been a consistent lesson taker in the past, but has come off of a back injury that has kept him from playing for almost 9 months. Now that he feels better he wants to start off with a new opinion about what should be trying to do with his swing, and certainly after watching him hit a few shots then analyzing the video I have come up with at least 3 major items for him to work on. What is rare about this particular lesson is Chris’ ability to incorporate the suggested changes almost immediately, certainly something I rarely see but welcome wholeheartedly.

Lesson of the Week: Bill Long

By Wayne | Videos: Lesson of the Week

Bill is a website aficionado who decided to drive up to Maryland from North Carolina after enjoying the website and improving his game with information provided by the site. When he arrived he stated his one great desire, “a good takeaway”. He had taken numerous lessons from pros around a wide region, and had never come away with anything he could apply to his swing and use on the golf course.

Lesson of the Week: Steve Strobeck

By Wayne | Videos: Lesson of the Week

Steve is a long time student and an avid student of the game who is keenly interested in applying a more solid strike to his iron shots. His tendency is to “pick” the ball off the ground without taking a divot, a result of a lack of pivot rotation which keeps his right side from moving forward into the impact area and beyond. His difficulty stems in large part from a fairly unique (I have never seen anyone else with this particular malady) physical limitation, that of a fused right ankle.

Lesson of the Week: Brian McCullough Part 2

By Wayne | Videos: Lesson of the Week

After you watch this video, be sure to go back and watch the first “Student Lesson” with Brian that we did in early June. I have seen Brian once in between these two pieces, and what is apparent is something that holds true in general when teaching decent players who want to get to the next level. Depending on how long they have been playing (and fighting the limitations of their technique) we usually end up working on the same things for at least a few lessons.

Lesson of the Week: John Alper

By Wayne | Videos: Lesson of the Week

Here we have a perfect example of the need for technique to go along with athletic ability when it comes to hitting a golf ball. John excelled at many sports as a kid and still remains in top condition while working as a television producer. He has come to golf late and has played some but has found it to be more difficult than he ever imagined, so much so that he has not been able to enjoy playing due to extremely inconsistent and generally poor ball striking.
