Wayne DeFrancesco: Great stuff. Thanks for posting that. Everyone should read it In fact, I’ll have John post it on the front page. I’ve been telling people this for years. For the poor to average player who wants to get better (which means being able to shoot lower scores on harder golf courses) ball striking is the first priority, and driving is the most difficult task of all. No one on the PGA Tour is a weak ball striker. Almost all of them have excellent short games and are decent putters, and it is the streaky putters who manage to put together great putting with exemplary ball striking and win every now and then. For players trying to make it to the highest level there can be no weakness and everything has to be worked on and improved, but better ball striking takes the pressure off the short game and putting and allows a player to relax on the course and be more aggressive, which is paramount in an age where you have to go low to win.
