Part 1 (scroll down for Part 2)
Joakim is a 49 year-old from Sweden who starting watching the Youtube videos, then the website, then decided to send his swing for me to look at. In his email correspondence Joakim spoke of his hatred for a slice that starts straight and curves 10-20 yards to the right, or sometimes starts left and stays there. He is a 9 handicap and from the athletic motion of the swing would appear to have a chance to be much better. When you watch the video if you want to test your own analytical abilities start with the sound turned off and watch the swing a few times, jotting down what you might say to Joakim about his technique. Then play the full video with the audio and compare what you thought with what I come up with. Of course, I do not pretend to have all the answers or to possess the ability to flawlessly analyze every swing. However, I think I am pretty good at it (remember, you’re watching me) and the exercise of comparing your original thoughts with mine should be a helpful thing for you. As you improve your swing analysis skills you will surely be able to better analyze your own.
Part 2 (Below)
It looks pretty cold in most of Joakim’s videos, so we should all give him a cheer for being so dedicated. He has come a long way with his swing since November and the evidence is there on the video and clear to see. His backswing has undergone a complete makeover, all of it positive. Check out the difference in the right leg going back and in the position of the shaft at the top. It’s one thing for me to make suggestions and it’s another thing altogether to actually execute the new ideas. It is tremendously difficult, even with hands on help, and it is especially gratifying to see anyone really improve like Joakim has done. And it’s not just Joakim: I’m seeing some nice improvement out of quite a few folks, and that is a cool thing.
