You may be aware that Tony is a stellar athlete who up to now has played golf strictly in his spare time and as a hobby. Now that he has retired as the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys for the less injurious position of NFL analyst he is ready and able to put more work into his golf game and would like to become a serious amateur competitor. I met Tony in January of 2013 at the Isleworth Invitational when I was invited to join his group for a practice round on the back 9 after my 3 playing partners had retired for the day. Upon introducing myself Tony remarked that he had watched the video I had done commenting on Peter Kostis’ television comparison of Tony’s swing with that of Tom Brady. I remarked that Kostis had goofed by trying to compare the two swings side by side when they were shot from completely different camera angles, and at the end of the video I stated that Tony’s swing was way better than Brady’s, which is probably why he remembered it at all. I had my camera and tripod with me so I took some shots of him on the course (he hit two drives over 360 yards) and did a swing analysis video. That night at the tournament dinner between the first and second rounds Tony pulled me over to the indoor simulator for a lesson. He went out the next day and won the amateur side of the event, and we were looking forward to continuing to work in the off season. Tony spent the next 3 ½ years either playing football or recovering from various injuries (broken back, broken collarbone, etc.), all of which kept him for the most part off the golf course. We kept in touch and when I heard that he was retiring I contacted him to see if he was still interested in doing some work together. When he said he was and that he would be in New York for some practice announcing work I arranged with website member Chip Zabatta to meet him and Tony at Chips club (the wonderful Wykagyl Club) in New York. The swings here were taken on the course, and you will see just how good Tony’s swing is already and get a sense of where I would like to go with it. We also did some short game and putting work that of course will play a major role in his ability to succeed at the highest level of amateur golf.
