Peter’s swing is looking better and better. In the first part of this video his left leg is staying bent too long in the forward swing. During the downswing, at left arm 45˚, I want to see the left leg moving out of the way and for Peter it should feel like it’s pulling behind him.
Peter’s right arm is driving his left arm out too much and off his chest causing his hands to approach impact higher than I’d like. To improve on this I want his hands to move out from the top but instead of continuing that direction I want them to head down, for an out and down move, while focusing on passing his hands by their original starting position.
The second part of this video we continue with the out and down move and the clearing of the left knee. For each individual certain moves are more of a challenge to overcome than others.

Peter’s Commentary:
Now that my backswing has improved I had to pay a lot of attention to my downswing. When I started with Wayne he made me aware of my in-to-out pattern with my driver. In the videos you will see how I am trying to swing down the line and to the left but totally missing a crucial position getting very steep. This was a very hard correction for me.
I had to stop thinking about my backswing when I was working on this swing change. All my attention had to be improving my downswing… slow practice swings, mirror work and constant video helped immensely.
A great drill that helped me was putting a ball on a tee (iron first) and going to the top, stopping my swing and then hitting the ball half speed. It felt like my hands we’re going directly down to my shoes. This gave me a great awareness of where my shaft must be on the downswing and it’s exit on the follow-through.
