Wayne D. Swing Analysis: Identifying Physical Issues

I’ve been playing better for a number of reasons, none of which are surprising: I’m able to practice without killing myself (I can hit balls for 90 minutes or so), I hit a million pitch shots at Boca Rio this winter which has made helped my up -and -down game, I got a TaylorMade Spider X putter (like DJ and McIlroy are using) that’s money, and I’m figuring out how to fight my lack of trunk mobility in my longer swings. My shorter irons, which don’t put as much stress on my pivot, have become quite accurate, while my misses with the longer clubs are less off- line. My big issue now is distance. If I want to compete from the back tees (the State Open is in 3 weeks) I have to get deeper into my right hip in my backswing without losing too much right knee flex, and I have to move from there into my left hip without pressing weight into the front of my left foot, which slows down my rotation and makes the club exit to the right. My poorer swings produce weak cuts that happen to be finding the fairway most of the time, but when I do it better, I can hit it straighter or with a draw and I can increase my distance by 20 yards at least. Working on it can be painful but my body is holding up under the stress and I feel like I have a better chance to stretch out the backswing and with a harder catch at the top produce more speed at the bottom.
