This lesson is a good example of what can happen when a talented player tries to make a change but doesn’t quite get it right, which then leads to other changes which may not be so good. My suggestion to Taylor and her dad Alex was to have Taylor start her swing with her upper trunk instead of her hands and wrists.

[Premium] This is another classic example of a steep to flat transition that gets the right arm behind the right side and causes a weak impact. It is also a classic example of a tight right arm that stays tucked to the body in the backswing, causing the left arm to initiate the swing, giving it minimal width and early upper trunk coil.

[Premium] Here we see yet another example of an excellent swing hamstrung by poor right arm movement. Mattias “pinches” his right arm in the backswing, which, as we can see from Adam Scott’s swing, is not really a flaw if you can deal with it on the forward swing like Adam does.

It has a nice fluid movement and excellent lines, and it just goes to show you how important it is to be able to slow a swing down and analyze it to see what is really going on.

[Premium] If I look at a swing on multiple occasions I try to focus on the swing at hand rather than spend too much time going over what has gone on in the past. Improvement is hard to come by and I prefer to just take what’s in front of me at the moment and not dwell too much on what has improved or what hasn’t.

[Premium] Here is another example of a very good player who is held back by right arm motion that complicates the release action to the point where it can’t be controlled consistently. Chris’s action is not as obvious as most that we see here on the website, but that just goes to show you how important it is to be able to slow the swing down and watch the sequence of movement in transition and in the impact area.

This video is a good example of the difficulty in changing a right arm motion pattern. If you watch Tyler’s first video lesson we focused on getting the upper right arm to move inward toward the chest to start the forward swing, which would take the end of the grip and the hands more out toward the ball.
