It is both surprising and gratifying when a student exhibits improvement in a short period of time. I never expect to see full swings incorporate the kind of major changes that are many times called for and suggested by my instruction. I like to see evidence of change when we use the video multiple times, but when there are combinations of things to fix up it is extremely difficult to put them together and make swings that show a large improvement in the overall motion and technique. That is what makes this video so special, in that Steve showed up on day 2 and started off with a swing that was dramatically better than the one he showed up with the day before. From there we went to what I considered the next step and progressed from the backswing compression move to the impact area where he needed to achieve a more forward leaning shaft. As you will see, he was able to do the impact drills and then produce a punch shot with what was again a major improvement in technique. Steve lives in Texas and thus will not be able to see me face to face for some time, but we will continue to monitor his progress (or regression) with online lessons. I would have to say that what you see here is not the norm, but it certainly gives one hope that such success is possible. It will be interesting to see if Steve can take his new knowledge and “feel” out to the course and see the benefits of improved swing mechanics.
