Rob Palazuelos Part 2 and Part 2 Follow-Up: Part 2: Improved Backswing, Need More Hip Depth in Downswing & Part 2 Follow-up: Continued Improvement

Both Lesson Number 2 and the follow-up in this post (scroll down to see the follow-up):

You can see from the side by side of Rob’s first lesson and this one that he has made drastic improvement in his backswing plane and his right arm movement in the forward swing. By improving the takeaway and adding forearm rotation Rob has gotten the club pointed more left at the top and his right arm in a more “ready” position with his right shoulder less retracted and his upper arm more in front of him. In the forward swing you can see how the right upper arm has made it’s way more in front of his right hip at P6, giving him more of a chance to change his throw release to more of a drive/hold type release, which will really help him with his irons. I would still like Rob to stretch out from the address to P2 by getting earlier trunk turn, and I side by side him with Tiger and Rory to demonstrate. From DTL Rob would benefit greatly from more depth in his right hip both in the backswing and then again in transition, and I side by side him again with Tiger to show him the “crunch” move that adds forward bend and right hip flexion to create more space for his arms in the forward swing.

Robert Palazuelos Part 2 Follow-up: Continued Improvement
(Note: In the middle of this video I say “extension” rather than “flexion” twice when looking at Robert’s left wrist in the downswing).
Robert has done a great job implementing my suggestions and his swing shows it clearly. His takeaway is better, he is much wider at the top with his right arm less behind him, and his shaft flattening has improved his lag and approach to impact drastically. I’d still like to see Rob extend more to P2 by stretching the left shoulder area and giving the right arm more space away from the body, and I’d really like to see his hand path, which has improved, continue to work more outward toward the ball and not move as downward. My main goal with Rob from the beginning has been to get his hands more forward approaching impact, and he has made great strides in that direction.
