Jeremy has moved to the Fort Myers area in Florida and is now playing the mini-tours full time. He has had some success so far, but has struggled a bit with his ball striking while getting acclimated with playing and practicing every day. As you will see Jeremy has a technically sound swing, and in this particular lesson I choose to work on his posture and the flow of his swing instead of anything position oriented. Jeremy has a great build for the game and is a wiry strong guy, but it just appeared to me that he was so tight and trying so hard to do what he wanted to do with his swing that there was no freedom of movement. It just looked too forced, so I suggested that he stand a bit taller and relax the muscles in his back and shoulders at address, which made it look quite different (and better). After that I wanted the swing to feel a bit narrower on the way back, as it looked overly extended and ended up being pretty short. I would like him to feel fuller and more relaxed, sort of a Vijay kind of approach instead of a Billy Horschel. Jeremy is going to be hitting a lot of balls when he practices, and it just felt like he was going to grind himself into an injury if he didn’t free it up a little. As always, it will be interesting to see how this plays out, but I think you’ll agree that the swings at the end of the lesson looked more natural and free flowing.
