Tim sent a nice email response to his lesson, so I thought I would share it with you as it does a great job of summarizing what I went over in the lesson. I really enjoyed the last comment about being an engineer and liking the way I use a standard method of analysis that he considered to be clear and detailed. That’s exactly what I am shooting for!

Hi Wayne,
Thanks for the lesson. I am a little embarrassed about the ball position part as I should know that. I was impressed with the observation about the back tension/position. I have been too tense with back issues for a little while now and it has in part to do with soreness from splitting wood but I feel it virtually every day. Definitely something I have to work on in general. I am thinking I need to do some stretching which will likely help a lot. It was also very helpful about the right arm position being too stiff. That and ball position are the first things I am working on. I am also trying to work on the back swing tempo but that is more ingrained and will probably take longer. I have never done very well with bracing off the inside of the right foot and in truth have never made a real turn with the hips going forward. I am guessing the turn part will take the most work. Not even thinking about the position at the top right now (crossing the line) as that will also be an issue. So, my current thinking is I will likely need about 2-3 months of work to get a little progress under my belt and then I plan to send you another video and see how it is going. If I can get the right arm more relaxed, fix the ball position and back swing tempo then I will be pretty happy about it. More long term will be bracing off the instep of the right foot and not crossing the line. I do worry about the move to the left and the turn. I don’t think I have ever moved 45 degrees to the left on the down swing and I think that is going to take a lot of work.

One last thing. I can’t recall how I came across your website but stumbled upon it somehow during web surfing. Being an engineer I thought the method of observation you use and the insight you have was very clear. I also decided to download the V1 home version to help things along. So I am in this for the long haul and, given I am not happy about my swing and scoring, I don’t plan to quit until I make some substantial progress.

Thanks again,

Tim
