In my continuing series with John we continue to address the concerns that he notes here in his email:
“Hey Wayne one last thing. Something is up with my driver and lack of ball speed. I can only get it up to 160. It doesn’t have to do with the club or shaft either. I’ve tried that. I don’t think I am pivoting properly with the driver. Maybe too much lateral? My left knee seems to buckle 75% of my driver swings. No post like Rory or Adam Scott. I think it has to do with my hip or lack of hip rotation. Can you please address this as well?
My advice in this video is for John to center his set up instead of tilting so far to the right, then to load right in the backswing and concentrate on attaining width with the arms and hands while keeping the head in place in transition. John is gaining on changing his swing pattern (his hands are no longer dropping behind him) but there is still the problem of right arm pull back in transition which effectively starts his downswing out of sequence. John will be able to deal with his hip rotation through impact when he improves his transition. It is interesting that after all the concern with the down the line view we now spend a lot of time with the face on view. One thing is for sure, though, and that is that John does a great job of working on the suggestions I give him. The process is fascinating.
