Please compare to Hogan on the backswing as you did last time and other areas that I can learn from his swing and you do your analysis please
I really enjoy watching Hogan and taking what I have learned from you
One thing I notice with Hogan that has helped me is keeping the arms in the backswing what appears to below or even with the right should and getting more wrist cock
I was good to a point then I was pushing up with my right to the top of the backswing creation a large triangle – which you had pointed out in the previous in line lesson
Finally – keeping my arms relaxed allows me to swing and get better rhythm – sometimes when you work on certain swing adjustment one gets tense and tries to place the club rather than swing it
Working in what we last reviewed
– trying to stop pushing up my right arm
– more speed thru the ball
– better posture
– trying to retract my left leg sooner and move down the line as my backswing finishes – creating more rhythm
– relaxed arms and wrists to get my cock in my backswing
– extend the arms out away from my head on the backswing
As you will see from the video Erik has a very good idea of what he needs to work on. In this analysis I suggest a more on plane takeaway achieved by cocking the wrists more vertically as the trunk moves the arms, and the hands moving slightly more straight back. I also emphasize the spacing of the right upper arm away from the body at address and into the start of the backswing. From there the big thing is the pelvic movement. Erik has a slight “sit” move to trigger his swing, and in transition he sits even more with his pelvis leveling and his knees and thighs moving toward the ball and out from under him. This slows down the left leg’s ability to rotate and clear. I would like Erik to try to add depth into his right hip in the backswing, which would load him more into the ground toward the heel, and then try to rotate the hip more inward so that it remains deep and can push the left side of the pelvis up and around. By maintaining his tilt, he will create more space for his right arm in the downswing, and with the left hip clearing faster he can get the upper right arm more forward as he approaches impact.
