Eric has made some nice progress implementing some of the suggestions I made in his first online lesson. As you will see in the side by side he has gotten his weight more out onto the balls of his feet, although he may have gotten himself a bit too much bent over from the waist. He completely changed his tendency to fan the face open in the takeaway, and now actually has it too face down (closed) for too long, and although he does a good job of opening the face late he still lifts his upper right arm getting to the top, which I think is a result of the how the back of the right shoulder feels when the right palm stays facing down as the shoulders and trunk turn back. Erik has also done much better in keeping his hips in the box in the face on view, now keeping his right hip up against the wall longer instead of cutting it back toward the target early in the backswing. It is not surprising that one of the things he now has to concentrate on is getting off the right side with more lateral push, as well as being more aggressive with his rotation by concentrating on the hip rotator muscles first in his left hip and then the right. It would be a good idea for Erik to practice with the stick in the ground between his feet in order to help the right leg drive more parallel to the target line instead of to the right. Erik is already on the right track, and when he can get his hips to stay deeper from the DTL view and increase his lateral and rotational movement he will have gone a long way toward making serious improvements in his swing.
