Erik was nice enough to send this email after he received his lesson, which means I don’t have to write a summary (he did a very nice job).

Just wanted to thank you for the swing analysis
I and my coach have learned a lot here – similar to what we were thinking, but more explanation and detail – particularly in getting deep with the hips going back and then extricating the left leg and hips back in the box so that I do to push forward with my knees and hips. In essence I feel like I am keeping my hips away and deep from the ball thru impact – driving the back of my legs to the left.
I am trying to also keep my right hip against the wall in the backswing and keep from cutting early
I am finding I have more room on the downswing which I love
I grew up working at champions as a kid and I loved watching Jackie Burke hit balls 35 years ago as a teenager. I always had in my mind he was pushing forward but in essence he was deepening he hips and creating room. He used to have me hit balls with a very strong grip and work under the ball leading with my legs- over time I think I just started pushing forward and crowding myself – but I always had those lessons in the back of my mind I just could not see what I was doing.
What is hard is to get the spine angle to deepen on the downswing as my angle is 57 and you showed DJ at 30 on the downswing when his left arm is parallel to the ground. If I can just get the shaft pointed at the ball on the downswing rather than out in front of the ball – it’s because I come in too shallow and don’t deepen my angle coming in – I think.
But I can tell you it’s looking and feeling better
I am not fanning the club open in the back swing and trying to steepen my swing with a bit more upright shaft. This has helped a lot by keeping over the all and more angle in my shoulders with my left shoulder pointing more towards the ball going back – this helps to steepen the swing
Well that is a lot – the proof will be in my work over the next weeks and months – I will follow up with my improvement in a new video to review.
Thank you again
Erik
