David has been working on lowering, staying deep, and using the ground. He also mentions that he’s concerned about his head moving forward in the backswing and his club twisting at the top. From the videos he’s sent in I see the same things happening. The first thing we take a look at is David’s posture and I use Adam Scott as an example of a setup I’d like him to emulate. I want David to get his weight more towards the balls of his feet and his shoulders further forward with his arms hanging more underneath him. Next we take a look at the twisting of the club at the top and see some good sequencing but a right arm and elbow that are staying pinched. I reference Ben Hogan as an example of how I’d like David to move his right arm in the backswing. David does a nice job rotating through impact but his address setup and right arm backswing positions are combining to steepen his shaft on the downswing leaving his right elbow back behind him approaching impact. I want David more out over the ball at setup to help him achieve a steeper shoulder turn giving him a better chance to make a side arm throwing motion. I also see David trying to maintain his left wrist cup through impact and I’d like to see it flattening on approach instead.
